Elliot Fein's rich experience as a Jewish high school teacher, writer, and education director are a wonderful complement to Temple Beth David's strong tradition of leadership in life-long Jewish family education. |
|
An author of nearly 100 essays and articles on Judaism, Jewish education, and contemporary Jewish life, Elliot's writings have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, the Jewish Journals of Los Angeles and Orange County, the Orange County Register, and other notable publications.
Elliot says: "This is indeed an auspicious time to become the Education Director at Temple Beth David.
It is not common to follow in the footsteps of such a competent, caring, and beloved Educator as Irma Moskowitz. It is not common to inherit teachers and staff members on a religious school faculty as committed and dedicated as those that presently teach and work in the Temple Beth David’s religious school. And, it is not common to receive a warm welcome like the one I have received from Temple Beth David.
In the Talmud as well as the daily prayers of the siddur, it says that Torah study is equal to all types of righteous acts. These acts include: honoring parents, providing hospitality to the stranger, visiting the sick, helping the needy bride, attending to the dead, and making peace between one person and another. Perhaps Torah study is equal to these acts because it can lead and inspire us to do them.
I look forward to engaging in Jewish learning with students and their families here at Temple Beth David and in the process engaging in many acts that can benefit us and the world in which we live."
Elliot lives in South Orange County with his wife Eve and sons Aryeh and Perry.
