This is the second year for our high school youth group (9-12th graders), known as WAFTY, and junior youth group program

(7th & 8th graders).   We are affiliated with NFTY which is the national reform Jewish youth movement that provides meaningful and engaging youth experiences for teens.  Integral to this program is teaching our youth to be leaders by creating and running their own programs with guidance from their advisor.  Some of our 9th and 10th graders just came back from a wonderful NFTY Fall weekend retreat and will be bringing their enthusiasm and love of Judaism to teen programming here at Temple Beth David.

We are blessed to have Michael Cohen, our rabbinical intern, to serve as advisor for both our senior and junior youth groups.  Michael is also our 9th grade teacher on Tuesday evenings and will be teaching our Sunday school family classes.  He is a third year rabbinical student at Hebrew Union College- Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles.

If you have questions about our youth program, you can contact him at [email protected] or Terry Krieger, our youth trustee, [email protected].

We are especially thankful first and foremost for financial support from our TBD Foundation.   They have always been supportive of our youth program and we are grateful.  We have also received support from a Federation grant and our religious school.  We are looking forward to a great year of programming, fun, and celebrating Judaism with our teens.
