Music

Temple Beth David enjoys a well-deserved reputation as a musical congregation.

The Adult Choir of Temple Beth David began singing over 50 years ago, and since that time our numbers have increased, our compositions have become even more beautiful and complex, and our music is loved by all. The Choir, led by Cantor Nancy Linder, sings on the second Shabbat of each month, and for all the major Jewish holidays. We don costumes on Purim, sing lovely and silly songs on Chanukah, and in our robes, sing, chant, and pray with the congregation for the High Holy Days. Come for Shabbat some Friday night and listen/pray with us. Who knows? Your inner soprano, alto, tenor, or baritone voice might speak to you, urging your voice to blend with ours! All Choir members volunteer their time. Rehearsals are once a week. The Choir is a family within the larger Temple Beth David family. Come sing along.

The Junior Choir of Temple Beth David is comprised of students in Kindergarten through 6th grade and the choir itself has been in existence for over 20 years. The Junior Choir sings at Family Shabbat Services and is an active participant at other special temple events including the Chanukah Synaplex Service and the Purim Shpiel. They have performed at many different venues including the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, South Coast Plaza, the Richard Nixon library, the Long Beach Jewish Community Center and host sites for the Huntington Beach Interfaith Council. They have shared the joy of Hanukkah at the Winter Celebration in Fountain Valley and brought happiness to the residents of numerous retirement homes, including Heritage Pointe in Mission Viejo and Sunrise Senior Living in Seal Beach. The Junior Choir also annually participates in the Israel Expo. Every religious school student in K through 6th grade is welcome to join. Our motto is “Keep on Singing!”
